Course number | 2570 |
Programme | Cell Biology and Genetics |
Language | English |
Credits | 1.5 |
Date | 2015-11-09 -- 2015-11-13 | Responsible KI department | Department of Cell and Molecular Biology |
Specific entry requirements | |
Intended learning outcomes | After the completion of the course, the participants will be able to make use of R for exploring and analyzing data sets. More specifically, the participants will be able to manage data sets, perform descriptive data analysis, generate plots for graphical display of data, and to perform tests such as Regression and ANOVA. A very specific goal is to provide the participants with a long-term tool and the guidelines for improving their knowledge on it. |
Contents of the course | Data sets and formats in R. Descriptive statistics. Graphical display of data. Classical tests. Regression, ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis. Experimental design. Graphical display of analysis. Use of documentation in R. |
Teaching and learning activities | The course consists of lectures, computer excercises and project work. |
Compulsory elements | Attendance is compulsory in lectures and computer excercises. Absence from obligatory moments is compensated according to the instructions of the course director. |
Examination | The acquired knowledge and skills will be examined in two ways: by successfully completing computer exercises and by a individual project (analysis of a selected data set; which can be provided by the student). |
