Purpose of the course | The aim of the course is that the student shall develop skills and competence in scientific writing in English. |
Intended learning outcomes | After the course, the student shall be able to:
- Analyse research results to distil the main message and reflect over the role of the main message in a scientific article - Apply principals for scientific writing for clear, concise and reader friendly articles - Avoid common flaws in scientific English |
Contents of the course | The course contains:
- Principals for scientific writing and organisation of a scientific article - Analysis of research results to form a main message - Principals for scientific writing for clear, concise and reader friendly articles - Common flaws in scientific English |
Teaching and learning activities | The course contains individual tasks, group assignments, discussions and interactive lectures. The teaching is mostly conducted in English. |
Compulsory elements | Discussions and group assignments |
Examination | Formative assessment during participation in discussions, group assignments, and individual tasks. Summative assessment through a written assignment where the student shall extract and formulate a main message and analyse a scientific text to identify common flaws and suggest corrections. |
