Purpose of the course
Intended learning outcomes After the course students should be able to
* understand the mechanisms of complex diseases
* use learned approaches for genetic studies to make their own project design
* know how to use information from public databases.
Contents of the course Course will cover topics such as
1- Beyond Human genome project: next generation sequencing
2- Genetic linkage and association (study design and analysis)
3- Structural variation and copy number analysis
4- DNA methylation
5- Next generation sequencing (study design and data analysis)
6- Bio-technology and database use
Teaching and learning activities Lectures and group work with an assigned projects
Compulsory elements Obligatory attendance to all lectures and seminars. A written summary based on missing lecture(s) is needed to compensate absence.
Examination The exam is in a format of oral presentation for corresponding project work.
