Purpose of the course
Intended learning outcomes After the course the students should be able to design a high standard research plan including two-four different types of studies in the field of safety promotion and injury prevention. Meanwhile they should be able to make analysis from the basic to advance in the field.
Contents of the course Principals of research in the field of safety promotion and injury prevention, Study Designs in the field of Safety Promotion, Statistical issues in injury research, Statistical analysis of longitudinal data from surveillance systems, Violence, Evaluation of interventions using longitudinal data, Evaluation of community based interventions, safety economic.
Teaching and learning activities A five-week full time course consists of lectures in the mornings (9:00-12:00), group/individual works in the afternoons mostly in the computer room(13:00-16:30). The program is the same for every weekday except Friday which is a day for examination or individual work and writing.
Compulsory elements Participation in the exam is compulsory. For those who can not participate in the exam, another exam will be designed and held on in the week after.
Examination Writing a research plan or developing a new analysis and writing the results related to an ongoing research as the 50 percent of the examination, and written exam for the other 50 percent.
