Purpose of the course To provide course participants with in-depth knowledge of stroke, and let them gain familiarity with different research methodologies used in clinical stroke research and get an insight in the knowledge gaps.
Intended learning outcomes 1. To be able to show a general understanding of stroke as a clinical entity and of the research methods used in clinical stroke research.
2. To be able to account for knowledge gaps in the field of clinical stroke research.
Contents of the course The course module will provide course participants with in-depth knowledge of stroke, including updated definition and epidemiology of stroke, as well as current guidelines of stroke diagnosis and treatments. The course will systematically introduce registry-based stroke research, such as epidemiological definitions, research proposal generation, registry research quality, and modern methodologies of using quality registries in epidemiological research. Translational medicine will be emphasized on the integration of research and stroke care.

Presentation and discussion of assigned group work
Compulsory elements The participants must attend the sessions of group work presentation/discussion and the written exam. The students who have missed these sessions can book extra session time within 4 weeks to compensate the absence.
Examination Presentation of assigned group work and participation in seminar (journal club discussion). Every course participant will be individually assessed according to the learning outcomes of the course.
