Kursens syfte | |
Kursens lärandemål | After successfully completing this course you as a student are expected to be able to: - discuss legal principles and laws that apply to research involving personal data, - reason about legal systems that protect individual integrity with respect to how personal data are used and distributed to others, - reason about ethical principles that apply to research involving personal data, with specific focus on personal integrity, informed consent and the concept of benefit-harm, - make adequate considerations on ethical aspects and legal principals when handling personal data in relation to own and others research projects. |
Kursens innehåll | The course will address legal aspects and laws that apply at register-based research, and ethical principles that should be emphasized and understood in this context. Further, it will address how to deal with personal data in order to comply with these laws and principles. |
Arbetsformer | Different strategies for teaching and learning, such as lectures, group assignments and practical exercises on selected topics, will be used. The course focuses on active learning, i.e. putting knowledge into practice and critically reflecting upon the knowledge, rather than memorising facts. Participants are expected to actively participate in discussions in class. |
Obligatoriska moment | The individual examination. |
Examination | To pass the course, the intended learning outcomes have to be achieved. The way of grading is passed/not passed. The examination consists of an individual task to be performed as a home examination. The examination is viewed as contributing to the development of knowledge, rather than a test of knowledge. Students who do not obtain a passing grade in the first examination will be offered a second examination within two months of the final day of the course. Students who do not obtain a passing grade at the first two examinations will be given top priority for admission the next time the course is offered. |
