Purpose of the course
Intended learning outcomes After the completed course, the participants will be able to describe the basic methods and mechanisms underlying non-coding RNA mediated epigenetic regulation in non-disease cases and compare and relate these to dysregulation in diseases. The participants will be able to describe and critically evaluate the weaknesses and strengths of the different methods and technologies used in genome-wide epigenomic regulation studies.
Contents of the course Non-coding RNA mediated epigenetic regulation in non-disease cases and dysregulation in diseases at individual locus level as well as on genome-wide level including long non-coding RNA, expressed transposons, miRNA, piwi-interacting RNA, and enhancer RNA. Understanding development and disease principles through epigenetic technologies.
Teaching and learning activities The course consists of lectures, discussion and seminars.
Compulsory elements The discussions and seminars are compulsory. Absence from compulsory parts is compensated according to the instructions from the course leader.
Examination The students will be examined individually for knowledge, understanding and skills with quizzes and presentations.
Literature and other teaching material Recent scientific articles and websites.
