Purpose of the course
Intended learning outcomes Understanding of how mutations in genes regulating cell growth and death cause cancer and what approaches to cancer therapy could be developed based on this knowledge.
Contents of the course Cell cycle, DNA damage checkpoints and its perturbation in cancer
Pro- and anti-apoptototic proteins in cancer and in cancer therapy
Oncogene activation as a driving force for cancer development and its targeting for cancer therapy
Tumor suppressors as targets for drug development
Proteolysis and cancer
Teaching and learning activities Lectures, seminars, presentation of papers by students and disucssions wth teachers.
Compulsory elements To attend lectures, seminars, discussions and paper presentations.
Examination Writing an essay on the topic suggested by teachers.
