Teaching and learning activities The course will provide a theoretical and practical orientation to qualitative evaluation, with emphasis on choosing appropriate evaluation methods, analysing the data and presenting study protocols.

The course will be delivered partly online, partly face to face. Group work methods will be used to practice skills in data collection and analysis. Lectures will be delivered online and face to face, encouraging student interaction and discussion. In addition to live discussion, and online forum will be set up where students can discuss issues and ask for peer assistance. In addition, the course will require individual reading. The course will be conducted synchronously at KI as well as other universities connected to the ARCADE network (www.arcade-project.org).

The course will be 40 hours in duration. There will be 13 lecture hours and 27 ""practical"" hours for preparing a study protocol, groupwork and individual reading.

On-site tutors and lecturers will hold lectures, facilitate some groupwork and facilitate presentations at the end of the course.
Compulsory elements Participation in online and face to face lectures is compulsory, as is participation in the final assessment. Absence
can be compensated by a 1 page summary of lecture content.
Examination Students' knowledge of qualitative evaluation methods will be assessed through their preparing and presenting a
qualitative evaluation protocol. This protocol will be prepared as groupwork, and presented in the last day of the
course. This will contribute 70% to the course mark. Evaluation of the protocols will be done through a peer-review method. Student groups will review other groups' work as part of their examination. This will contribute 15% of the course mark. In addition, students will be given an online multiple choice exam on Moodle. This will contribute to 10% of the course mark. Finally, students' participation in online and live discussions will be assessed. This will contribute 5% of the course mark.
