Purpose of the course | |
Intended learning outcomes | After the completed course, the participants will be able to describe central epigenetic concepts and mechanisms and relate these to genome-wide applications, in the study of disease and development. The participants will be able to describe and critically evaluate the weaknesses and strengths of different technologies used in epigenomic studies. |
Contents of the course | Central concepts, mechanisms and methods of epigenetics, such as DNA methylation and histone modifications, in a genome-wide perspective utilizing analytical methods such as bisulphite sequencing, MeDIP and ChIP-Seq. Understanding development and disease through genomic technologies focusing on epigenetic states as determinants of gene regulation. |
Teaching and learning activities | The course consists of lectures, discussion and seminars, and the use of an internet-based learning platform. |
Compulsory elements | The discussions and seminars are compulsory. Absence from compulsory parts is compensated according to the instructions from the course leader. |
